Binomial name: Ficus carica L.

The fig is a tree or deciduous bush, with a height of 8 – 10 m and a very branched trunk.

Origin: the fig is native to Asia and the Mediterranean region.

Medicinal values: it is mainly intended to constipation and fatigue; however it also has multiple applications, for example, in cases of mouth sores or buccal inflammations, rheumatism, colds, bronchitis and skin problems.

Curiosities: tertiary and quaternary fossils have been found in France and Italy, demonstrating its antiquity.
