Binomial name: Rubus idaeus L. The raspberry plant is a bush of 40 to 60 centimetres height, that grows in rugged or rocky terrains of the mountains. Origin: it is found in Greece, on Mount Ida, place from which it expanded to Italy, The Netherlands, England and North America. Medicinal values: its use is indicated in case of diarrhoea, cistitis, wounds and skin or mouth ulcers. Caloric value per 100 g: 30 kcal Varieties: Heritage, Tudlamen, Laion, Prosen, Chile Wak. Curiosities: the colour varies to a violet bluish when they are in contact with some metals as aluminium, tin-plate or iron that contain some tinnings. |
