Binomial name: Cydonia oblonga

It is a deciduous tree with a height of 4 to 6 m and a twisted trunk.

Origin: the Greeks knew a variety of Cydon. The quince tree was consecrated to Afrodita (goddess of love).

Medicinal values: its high content of fiber (Pectin and Mucilage) and tanins give it an astringent capacity. It’s also a good disinfectant and skin-healing. It boosts the appetite and athletes use it as an energetic appetizer.

Curiosities: its fruits change according to the age, the climate and the type of farming. Thus, sometimes in the same tree we find quinces in numerous forms.
