Binomial name: Citrus lemon (L.) Burm.f.

The lemon tree is a small tree that does not exceed the 6 m of height.

Origin: the lemon has an antiquity of 20 million years and it is native to South-East Asia, from the valleys located in the South of the Himalaya. From there, the Arabs introduced its cultivation in Europe and in Spain between the years 1000 and 1200.

Medicinal values: it improves the function of the liver, kidneys and gallbladder. It strenghtens the bronchi, it soothes the throat and the gums, and it helps in colds.

Varieties: Lisbon, Eureka, Primofiori, Verna.

Curiosities: during the artificial ripening process, lemons have gone from green to yellow. They are placed in a camera acclimatised to 10 degrees and a humidity of 80%.
