Date

Binomial name: Phoenix dactylifera L.

The date is the fruit of the date palm tree. It is an oblong berry,  4 – 8 cm long.

Origin: this is a fruit native to Middle East and North Africa, where it grows in a natural state. Due to its characteristics, it is well adapted to warm climatic areas.

Medicinal values: dates stimulate appetite, so they are useful in stomach and intestinal problems derived from loss of appetite. Their consumption is also advised in cases of liver disorders and anaemias. Because of its high nutritional and energy values, they have a tonic action.
