Ginger

Binomial name: Zingiber officinale

It is a herbaceus plant, perennial, that reaches 1 metre height.

Origin: ginger plants, almost certainly come from warm areas of the Far East. From there and through all the tropical belt, this Hindu vegetable is cultivated a lot.

Medicinal values: ginger contains a group of elements. The most important is the one that names the plant, gingerol, a type of oil. It has beneficial effects in the digestive system, it is stimulant in the circulatory system, in addition to anti-inflammatory, laxative, antiseptic and analgesic.

Caloric value per 100 g: 69 kcal

Varieties: according to the consumption of ginger, we will stand out two classes: the fresh one, that can be used as a salad dressing; and the dry one or dehydrated, to all uses, from culinary to medicinal.

Curiosities: if we suffer stomach ache, we can take an infusion. We take a cup of water and add, boiled, a soup spoon of ginger.
